Commercial drivers, listen up here. You are held to a higher standard by the government. You are held to a higher standard by the Ohio BMV.
Also, the government is strategically going to war against you on two fronts. What is that? Your actual truck, your commercial truck where the standard is a 0.04 and then your own private driver’s license where the standard, if you’re in your own private car, would be a 0.08 BAC or above that’s illegal.
So, a 0.04 is illegal in your truck, 0.08 is illegal if you’re in your own personal car and not working.
If you’re a commercial driver, don’t drink and drive at all. Not on your private time and not on your work time. You got too much to risk.
But, if it happens, here’s the situation. A first suspension is one year for commercial driving purposes and if you get another one, it’s a lifetime ban. You will lose your job. You will lose everything you worked hard for.
So, don’t drink and drive. But, if you do, don’t take those tests. Let your lawyer handle things. Choose to refuse. Don’t take the government test. No field test. No chemical test. No breath test. Don’t do it.
The less evidence, the better for you and the better for me to preserve your commercial driver’s license, to preserve your personal driver’s license, and to preserve that job that you worked long and hard for. If you’re stopped by the man, call the man, Steve Adams.
